Everything about Demesne is bioengineered for perfection.Even the air there induces a strange, euphoric high that only the island's workers—soulless clones like Elysia—are immune to.
At first, Elysia's new life on this island paradise is idyllic and pampered. But she soon sees that Demesne's human residents, the most privileged people in the world who should want for nothing, yearn.And, she comes to realize that beneath its flawless exterior, there is an undercurrent of discontent amongst Demesne's worker clones. She knows she is soulless and cannot feel and should not care—so why are overpowering sensations clouding Elysia's mind?
If anyone discovers that Elysia isn't the unfeeling clone she must pretend to be, she will suffer a fate too terrible to imagine. When Elysia's one chance at happiness is ripped away from her with breathtaking cruelty, emotions she's always had but never understood are unleashed. As rage, terror, and desire threaten to overwhelm her, Elysia must find the will to survive.
This is a book that I've seen featured quite a bit on the WoW lists (which is how I became aware of the title). It does sound a lot like "The Island" (a movie starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlet Johannson) but I'm still intrigued by the premise and will likely pick it up come October.

This is a prose novel based on the Civil War storyline from Marvel comics a few years ago, which pits Iron Man against Captain America in a battle over the Superhero Registration Act (meaning all superheroes must register with the government, and reveal their identities). All the characters line up on one side or the other of this issue, and it leads to an epic confrontation. I'm almost as curious to see what changes are made for this book as I am to read a prose version - will they keep the part where Spider-man unmasks - despite the fact that said event has been undone since in the comics? This is supposed to be just the start of a new series of book adaptations of Marvel stories, and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes next.
